Unstaking TRX under Stake 2.0 takes two steps and 14 days. Here's what happens to your TRX, energy and votes along the way.
Step 1: Unstake
In your wallet's staking/resources section, choose Unstake (sometimes Unfreeze), pick energy or bandwidth and the amount. You can unstake part of your stake. The TRX then enters a 14-day waiting period.
During the wait:
- the TRX is not spendable yet;
- the resources (energy or bandwidth) from that amount stop being generated;
- your TRON Power drops, so your votes for Super Representatives may be reduced — check and re-vote with what's left.
Step 2: Withdraw
After 14 days, use Withdraw (sometimes Withdraw unstaked TRX) to move the TRX back into your available balance. Some wallets do this automatically; others need you to confirm.
Before you unstake
- Claim voting rewards so you don't forget them.
- Reclaim delegations. TRX whose resources are delegated to another address must be reclaimed before it can be unstaked.
- Keep enough energy or TRX for the transfers you'll make during the 14 days — you'll be burning TRX again once your energy is gone.
Can I cancel an unstake?
Some wallets let you cancel pending unstakes and re-stake immediately. If yours doesn't, you can stake again after withdrawing.
