How the USDT blacklist works
The USDT TRC-20 contract (TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t) keeps a list of addresses Tether has frozen. Every transfer checks it: a frozen address cannot send USDT, and anything sent to it is stuck.
This is why exchanges and OTC desks check the recipient before paying out — and why you should too, especially for large or first-time transfers.

How do I check if a USDT TRC-20 address is blacklisted?
Paste the address above. We ask the USDT contract on TRON directly (its isBlackListed function), so the answer is the same one the contract uses to block transfers.
What happens to USDT on a blacklisted address?
It is frozen: the address cannot send USDT, and USDT sent to it cannot be moved again. Tether can later destroy the frozen balance and reissue it to the rightful owner, typically after a law-enforcement request.
Why does Tether freeze addresses?
Tether freezes addresses linked to hacks, scams, sanctions and law-enforcement requests. It is a centralized control built into the USDT contract.
I received USDT from a frozen address. Is my USDT frozen too?
No. Freezing applies to the blacklisted address itself, not to USDT it sent earlier. Some exchanges and AML services may still flag funds that passed through such addresses.
Can a frozen address be unfrozen?
Only Tether can remove an address from the blacklist. Contact Tether support with proof of ownership; there is no on-chain way for the owner to do it.
