How to Create a USDT TRC-20 Wallet

A USDT TRC-20 wallet is a TRON wallet. How to choose one, create it, find your T-address, activate it with TRX and receive your first USDT safely.

A "USDT TRC-20 wallet" is simply a TRON wallet: the same address holds TRX and all TRC-20 tokens, including USDT. Setting one up takes a few minutes.

1. Choose a wallet

Pick a non-custodial wallet (you hold the keys) that supports TRON. Compare features side by side on our TRON wallets page and wallet comparisons. Download it only from the official site or app store — fake wallet apps are common.

2. Create the wallet

  1. Open the app and choose Create wallet.
  2. Write down the recovery phrase (12 or 24 words) on paper, in order. Never type it into a website, never screenshot it, never share it.
  3. Confirm the phrase when asked and set a password or PIN.

3. Find your USDT (TRC-20) address

Your TRON address starts with T. That's where people send you USDT on the TRC-20 network. If the wallet asks which network, choose TRON (TRC-20).

4. Activate it with a little TRX

A new address isn't active on-chain until it receives TRX, and you'll need TRX (or energy) to send USDT later. Send a few TRX to it first — see how to activate a TRON address.

5. Receive your first USDT

Share your T… address (copy it or show the QR code). Ask the sender to choose the TRC-20 network. Check the token you received is real USDT: verify USDT contract.

Security checklist

  • Recovery phrase offline, in two safe places.
  • No one legitimate will ever ask for it — not support, not "recovery services".
  • Review token approvals now and then.
